Underground working is an activity with its own specific constraints: the cutting cylinders work in static mode and must support variable loads. The environment is very unfavourable and maintenance operations are always very demanding.

        Hydrotech Provence has supplied cylinders to CHARBONNAGE de France for some ten years. By setting up strict monitoring of cutting cylinders, we have been able to increase their working life considerably. In parallel, we have implemented a different repair policy, applying other methods, and we have succeeded in cutting the average cost of repairs.

        This "win–win" strategy has therefore been a double success and, on the basis of this experience, Hydrotech Provence is now looking to move into new export markets.
